Reflect on the Stations of the Cross through your art, inspired by the voices of prisoners and their loved ones.
What is it all about?
In preparation for Lent 2026, artists are invited to submit work for Kristu Ħabsi, a unique Via Crucis exhibition combining visual art with reflections written by individuals closely connected to the Corradino Correctional Facility, including prisoners, family members, and staff.
Each artwork will correspond to one of the 15 Stations of the Cross, forming a powerful meditation on suffering, hope, and redemption.

Who Can Apply?
Applicants may submit as individuals or in groups. In the case of group submissions, the representative must be clearly indicated when listing all participants.
Adolescents – Ages 12 -17
Participants in this age group may only choose from two reflections, corresponding to the following stations:
- Station IV: Ġesù jiltaqa’ ma’ Ommu Marija
- Station VI: Il-Veronika tixxotta l-wiċċ ta’ Ġesù
Ages 18+
Participants in this category may select from any of the 13 Stations of the Cross.

Design Consideration
Style
All submitted artworks must follow the visual theme “Monochrome + One”. This means the piece should primarily use black, white, and greyscale tones, but artists may choose to include a touch of one additional colour for creative emphasis.
Number of Submissions
Artists are welcome to submit more than one entry to the competition. Each submission must correspond to a different Station of the Cross.
Medium
The artwork may be created in any medium: painting, sketching, photography, digital art, sculpture, mixed media, etc. The key is to remain faithful to the limited colour scheme to create a unified aesthetic for the final exhibition
Dimensions
To ensure all artworks can be appropriately displayed and transported, the following maximum dimensions apply:
- 2D Works (e.g. paintings, drawings, mixed media): Maximum Size: 60 cm (width) × 84 cm (height) (A1 size)
- 3D Works (e.g. sculpture, installation):
- Maximum Base Area: 60 cm × 60 cm
- Maximum Height: 100 cm

Selection Process
- The winner shall be chosen based on design consideration.
- The Malta Catholic Youth Network (MCYN) will review all submissions and select the artworks to be exhibited. Following selection, the Digital Presence Office of the Archdiocese of Malta will be consulted to coordinate the final presentation and Via Crucis.
Selection of Artwork
- The winner will be contacted by email and/or phone.
- The selected artists, as well as all artworks submitted may be showcased on the MCYN`s website and selected official online platforms of the Archdiocese of Malta.

- Physical artworks should be delivered to the Archbishop’s Curia. Artists must contact the MCYN office via email at [email protected] to schedule a delivery appointment.
- Digital artworks may be submitted directly via email in PDF, PNG, or JPEG format.
Artist Statement:
A maximum of 100 words in Maltese or English (in paragraph or bullet point format) to describe the concept, theme, and symbolic elements must be submitted with the design.
