Description

Pietre Vive (or Living Stones) is an international community of Ignatian youths, both lay and not, who aim to provide individuals, pilgrims, and visitors with the opportunity to rediscover Christian monuments and works of art in their original roles of hospitality, evangelisation and prayer. We set out to read art as a visual prayer and to embark on an adventure of spiritual communion with the artist’s prayer across the centuries.

Our meetings often involve communal prayer and reflection, as well as art-historical and theological formation in preparation for service, which is held once a month at St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta. Our service is not merely built on knowledge, but on gratuity and openness to the ‘unknown’ visitor, as well as to the presence of Christ amidst the noise.

Being an international community, all Pietre Vive are encouraged to visit or stay in touch with each other. This also involves attending international formation camps held throughout the year, including the summer period, in various locations, especially in Europe.
