World Youth Day in Parishes

At the end of Mass on the Solemnity of Christ the King on 22 November 2020, Pope Francis called for a relaunch of the celebration of WYD in the particular Churches. He announced that this celebration which has been traditionally held on Palm Sunday, starting in 2021 will be held on the Sunday of the Solemnity of Christ the King.

Although it is our desire to organise this celebration, we acknowledge the fact that it would be difficult to organise this on a diocesan level due to pandemic restrictions and the health risks involved. Without wishing to postpone these celebrations to another year we have prepared a guide for the celebration of WYD which can be organised in every parish through a prayer vigil & a dedicated mass.

Below you can find a document (in Maltese and in English) that gives a step by step guide for the prayer vigil, and some suggestions for the celebration of mass. Please feel free to amend these guidelines according to your particular parishes. We hope that this would serve as a celebration that unites the different entities present in so many of our local parishes.
